I was immediately all like, “I’m going down to buy one!” but then I did more reading – he’s using Parallels to do this magic stuff. He’s not really switching the OS, he’s just running a VM under Parallels in full screen mode.

If I was a gamer and could run XP as the host OS (for decent graphics support) and Parallels for the other stuff I’d be there I recon, but I don’t think that’s the demo he’s showing 🙂 Thoughts?

That is switching the OS. Parallels uses VT. Of course if you are a gamer its better to run native. Furthermore its probably a much better idea to go custom as you can upgrade your graphics card at need.

I’ve got Parallels going on my M400 tablet, but I haven’t had a chance to test it well yet as it doesn’t work with my vmware images. You are right though, a good method for gamers would be parallels on WinXP. Of course you’d have to find one of those hacked versions of OSX so you could run that on non-Mac hardware.

Personally I think the Mac Mini is one of those perfect small workstations. For business, media center, your grandmother, etc. I’m evolving my setup. The next plan is using a Mac Mini to build a work desktop unit where I can bring my tablet too. I’ve found using the tablet as a desktop destorys its usefulness as a tablet as its surrounded by a mass of cables. I’m probably combine the thing with software KVM and filesharing via samba.
